part time pinner
Yes, it’s true. The words, “pinning is part of my job!” have actually come out of my mouth. Mostly when a family member comes up behind me and calls me out for playing on Pinterest when I said I was working. I’ll admit, it’s not exactly hard work but I do actually consider it to be a small part of my job description.
So why do I think Pinterest is an important part of my job as a creative?
1. Branding
When you hear “branding”, what do you think of? If you’re thinking logos, fonts and color schemes you are correct. But branding is so much more than that! It’s everything the world sees from your brand. It’s the way you answer emails, the pictures you share on instagram and, you guessed it, everything you pin on Pinterest! All of these things define your brand in the mind of your audience. This isn’t something to worry about or over-think. Just be aware that you are pinning not only for yourself but for your audience. Clients have told me that they knew I’d be a good fit for their project because they love everything I pin. Pinterest is a great way for potential clients to get a feel for your style and personality!
2. Networking
Seriously guys… Pinterest is free advertisement. Take advantage of it! It’s a great way for you + your product to be seen. Beyond that, it can be a great place to network! Start conversations and build relationships by commenting on other’s pins. Also, take an extra step and thank people who pin images from your site/blog. An artists did this when I pinned one of his pieces and I was so impressed! It really made him stand out from the crowd.
3. Inspiration
Okay… maybe this one is a little obvious. But when your job requires staying creative, this can be super important! We all have days when our inspiration has run dry. Scrolling through my boards can really give me the creative push that I need! I’m super inspired by other’s creativity. I’ve found countless artists, blogs and shops that I go to for inspiration on Pinterest!
So what about you? How is Pinterest important to your business?

Great idea, Jordan Baker Brantley! I do have a question, when you pin an item, do you also tell where we can buy it? xoxo
if it’s pinned from the original course, you should be able to click the image and it take you to the store where you can buy it. :)
