setting goals + making things happen ( + another free resource )

This morning, in my email to the CLC insiders on the new email list ( get on the list right here or in the sidebar under “become a clc insider” ), I talked a bit about goals.

Goals are important for so many reasons. They’ve become important to me recently in allowing me to get through my long list of ideas and actually make them happen. Like I said in the email, I decided to make a change because I realized I was always busy but not always getting the important things done.

To make this change happen, I first made a master list of everything I wanted ( and needed ) to get done. Then, I put them in order of priority. Of course, client projects were on top of business/personal projects… that was the easy part. The hard part was figuring out a good plan of action for all of the ideas I have for the CLC resource shop. Guys… it’s a really, really long list.

That’s when I decided to take it a step further and create a goals worksheet for myself ( and for you! ) that would help put all of my crazy ideas in perspective.

goal worksheet for creatives

This worksheet can be used for small ideas and large scale projects alike. It has a place for you to write down a deadline, reasons the goal is important to you and how it will help you reach your ultimate goal ( whatever that may be – in life or in business ), details + a description of the project, and research findings.

You know what to do with the “TO DO” part, but let’s talk about the “TO DO after” part! I think it is really important to write down the steps that need to be taken after a project is completed. Personally, I’m very guilty of immediately moving on to the next thing on my list when I finally finish a big project.

If you are a creative entrepreneur, the ”TO DO after” list may be just as important as the actual project itself. If you don’t tell your potential clients or customers about your awesome new product you’ve worked so hard on, they will STAY just that… potential.

So, on this list you may want to write “write a blog post”, “do an email campaign”, “offer a coupon”, or simply ” share with facebook and twitter followers”. And then don’t forget to celebrate. I took the liberty of filling that one out for you. ;)

Now go download the goals worksheet, organize your ideas and MAKE THEM HAPPEN! And when you finish, let me know so I can help you share it and celebrate!

resource shop / editorial content calendar

Hey friends! Ready for more free stuff? ;)

I’ve finally nailed down a design for an editorial calendar for blogging that I love so of course I’m going to share it with you! It’s the newest item in the CLC resource shop; you can grab it there for free. In this post I’m going to share a few tips on editorial calendars and how I use mine.

The layout is very open for easy customization since every blog is different. I’ll show you how I use mine but feel free to use it in whatever way works best for you.

collaboration with papernstitch: print this

Okay, one more bit of exciting news today.

Today is the first day of a new collaboration with Brittni of papernstitch! Once a month, sometimes more, I will be designing a set of printables that Brittni will style and photograph. This month, we created a “thankful for you” package for you to use this Thanksgiving season, but could be used anytime of year! I had such a great time working on this project and was blown away by Brittni’s creativity through the whole process! I’m very excited to continue this collaboration. :)

getting to know you better + a gift card giveaway!

Well hello there, friends! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and enjoyed plenty of leftover Halloween candy.

Because of my wonderful contributors, you may not have noticed my absence last week. I caught a cold and man, I always forget how terrible they are! ( funny, i said those exact words to ashley the week before! guess i needed a reminder… ) The majority of the week was spent sleeping as much as possible while staying caught up on design projects for clients. On Friday I decided to give myself a day off. All of my MUST-DO-NOW projects were completed and I knew I could spend some time working during the weekend.

It was a wonderful decision. I started feeling much better ( the care package my mom brought me could’ve had something to do with it as well ) and I was bursting with inspiration! It’s funny how giving myself a day free from pressure to come with great ideas ended with pages of fresh blog material and ideas for the future of my business!

All of these new ideas for CLC are very exciting, but I want them to be as beneficial for you as possible because no joke – you guys are the best. To make that happen, I’m asking you to do a short survey so that I can get to know you better. To show you how much I truly appreciate you reading + supporting CLC, I’ve decided to giveaway a $25 Etsy gift card! Only one person will win the gift card, but I’ve also designed a free printable card and a new desktop background for everyone to enjoy!

better than free candy

My neighbors decorate for every possible holiday. And let me tell you.. they go all out. I have to admit, I’m not that dedicated. This year, I decided to keep it simple and design a few halloween + share them with you, of course! ( there’s also a desktop background at the bottom of this post along with the print downloads! ) Whether you like to cover your yard with cobwebs or not.. you’ll enjoy this easy halloween decor project. The best part? Its super cheap!

Here is a list of the materials I used. Using items I already had and finding the rest at the dollar store.. I spent less than $5 on this project!

  • halloween prints ( download them at the bottom of this post )
  • cardstock ( craft supply store )
  • washi tape
  • spiders ( dollar store )
  • plastic skull ( dollar store )
  • spray adhesive ( craft supply store )
  • glitter ( dollar store )

To add more interest to my “halloween wall” I grabbed a few spiders and a skull from the dollar store and then covered the skull with glitter. Spray adhesive made the process super fast and easy! ( i also flattened the back of the skull a bit to make it rest on the wall better )

I highly recommend washi tape for hanging prints on the wall. Especially if you’re like me and you change your mind often and like to move things around! And of course.. it’s just so pretty!

To make the process easier, lay all of your elements on the ground and figure out the best arrangement before you put them on the wall. I made a few ( okay a lot.. hehe ) of changes after hanging it but it still saved a lot of time!

One more little freebie for you: a new desktop wallpaper. ( thanks for all of the kind words about the last one! i’m so glad you enjoyed it! )

If the dots are too much, don’t worry! There is also a download with text only.
